Advert added to marketplace: 26th August 2019
‘ This is a rare opportunity to join a stable, well run and friendly syndicate’
Leam Mist is a Hunter Horizon 272ccs, factory built in 1992. She is a twin- bilge keel sloop, LOA 8.15m, beam 2.74, draft 1.0m with 6 berths in 2 cabins. The hull is GRP which has been epoxied & coppercoated. She has been carefully maintained from new and is kept on a Marina berth on the River Hamble, giving easy access to the Solent & Channel. If the weather is bad Southampton Water is an alternative sailing area.
The boat was originally purchased by one of the present syndicate & was subsequently joined by 3 new co-owners in 2002. 2 of these 3 retired from sailing in 2015 & 2017 & were replaced by a new co-owners. Since 2002 we have gradually upgraded & replaced most of the ‘wearable’ items including:- sails & packaway lazyjack system (2011), engine (16hp betamarine (2009), batteries(x2- 110ah, 2013), sprayhood (2007), S/S rigging (2006), inflatable dinghy (2010), jib (2019). The hull was professionally coppercoated in 2006 & again in 2017.The cabin upholstery was completely replaced in 2017. We are members of SeaStart, the A.A. of the sea! ( The netting shown in the photo has since been removed.)
As well as the usual equipment, additions include;- Compass inflatable dinghy valise & Johnson 2.2hp O/B, Tillerpilot ST10, Self-tacking jib & roller reefing, Scooper sail, Garmin chart plotter, Garmin 152 GPS & repeater, NASA AIS, VHF radio with DSC, hand-held VHF, FM radio, Tac-Tick wind indicator, Raymarine bi-data, s/s boarding ladder. Auto electric bilge pump.
The present consortium is run on an informal basis with sailing dates being agreed at the beginning of the year, but subject to agreed swaps when possible; in 17 years there has never been a disagreement over dates & we frequently sail together. An annual budget is agreed to at the beginning of the year & this figure includes the annual berthing fees, free electricity & WiFi, as well as all expected maintenance costs, lift out/in & pressure clean charges. A contingency sum is also included which is carried forward to the next year if not used. The contribution last year was £1,800 each, paid at the rate of £150 per month, but this figure included some recent major one-off expenditure, now paid for, so the amount is being reviewed, a figure of £125 is being proposed. The major part of this expenditure is the Marina berth, (approx £5,000 p/a). Another proposal being considered is to move to a cheaper berth within the Marina, & this would save a considerable amount. If the share is sold before this happens, the new co-owner would have a say in this proposal. The share is for sale at a one-off £4000, offers will be considered!
It is hoped that the new share holder would be able to help with the annual layup but this is not essential, it just saves us a bit of money as well as being god fun!! We get 3 weeks free storage ashore as part of our agreement with Universal Marina. Detailed accounts are available for inspection to any serious enquiry, as are photographs.
The agreement used is the standard RYA AGREEMENT FOR THE SYNDICATE OWNERSHIP OF A YACHT. There is no mortgage or loan outstanding .
Viewing is possible at any time by mutual agreement.
